Lake Wallowa Camp and Retreat Center
After a seven year absence, Pioneer’s family is returning to Wallowa Lake United Methodist Camp! The scenic two and a half hour drive from Walla Walla puts you at the foot of the “Oregon Alps” and a few blocks from beautiful Wallowa Lake. High temperatures are generally about ten degrees below Walla Walla, and it cools down at night. It’s a great place to refresh the spirit, build community, and enjoy some fun. Most kids start creating their own fun shortly after arrival.
And don’t think the accommodations need to be rustic. Each yurt cabin includes its own ¾ bath, comfortable beds, and furnished linens. Check out their website for more information. Meals are great and prices are reasonable, especially with some subsidy offered through Pioneer endowments.
The weekend schedule includes a simple worship service Saturday and Sunday mornings and campfires Friday and Saturday nights. Organized activities are available after dinner on Saturday. However, much of Saturday is free to just kick back, try out the lake, go on a group hike, play one of three miniature golf courses, ride horses or go-carts, or take the gondola to the top of Mount Howard. But the best part is just being together as God’s family.
