The Book of Revelation
Pastor Liv Gibbons | [email protected]
Sundays from 9:00-10:00 am, January 3rd – February 7th
The term “apocalyptic” has been bandied about a fair amount in 2020, and it’s true that much has been “revealed” (αποκάλυψε) this year as we’ve battled pandemic and partisanship and environmental catastrophe. But what was John of Patmos talking about when he wrote our most famous piece of apocalyptic literature, The Book of Revelation? Come explore Revelation’s wild cast of characters, hidden meaning, and — most importantly — its beautiful and breathtaking promise of God’s kingdom come. Grab your Sunday morning coffee or tea and join Pastor Liv for a lively discussion of one of our tradition’s most enigmatic (and often misunderstood) books.
Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents Book Study
Pastor Juli Reinholz | [email protected]
Mondays from 6:30-7:30 pm on Zoom, January 4th – February 8th
We’ll continue our ongoing conversation on racism with a six-week book study of Isabel Wilkerson’s acclaimed Caste, led by Pastor Juli. Beyond race, class, or other factors, there is a powerful caste system that influences people’s lives and behavior and the nation’s fate. Wilkerson points us forward helping us move beyond the artificial and destructive separations of human division, toward hope in our common humanity. A limited number of books are available in the church office for $15.
